Gil Yaron 1962 Strat Build – Week 1

My Gil Yaron 1962 Strat Build

How exciting! World renown Guitar maker Gil Yaron was gracious enough to share with me his pictures of building my 1962 spec Strat. He started with giving me the choice between 2 incredible pieces of wood to build my neck. The first piece of wood is reclaimed maple from an old church in Israel. The second option was a piece of beautifully figured maple.

I decided to go with the reclaimed since I have always preferred my guitars made out of old growth wood. I also chose his pre-CITES era Brazilian Rosewood for the slab fingerboard for the ultimate vintage guitar feel and tone. Take a look at the beautiful tight grain on this one piece ultra-lightweight ( 3.51 lbs ) alder body down below. Gil sure knows how to do it right! These posts will be updated on a weekly basis showing the process of my Gil Yaron Strat build from the ground up.
